Mt. Conness & North Peak – Yosemite NP

L’estate della Montagne led into the Fall, and over the Labor Day weekend, I went mountaineering.  It was a warm-up for my week in the Ansel Adams Wilderness along the Ritter Range, with the peaks there beckoning.  Over three days, traveling ultralight, I summited Mt. Conness (12,590′) and North Peak (12,242′).  This 16-mile trip included about 12 miles off-trail and went deeply into the solitude of the gorgeous NE corner of Yosemite National Park.  The mountains were spectacular, and the wildflowers in full bloom, arriving late due to the previous winter’s heavy snowfall.  And as an added bonus…the cooler air kept the mosquitos away!!!
